What is Kunbah?

Kunbah: Family. Clan. Household.

“Kunbah” — The Urdu word kunbah (كنبا) has origins in both Hindi and Sanskrit, meaning family, clan, or household. It refers to one’s relatives and kin — the people who form your home, your identity, and your belonging.

The plural forms kunbe or kunbe-wāle describe an extended family or community of kinfolk. While its roots lie in Hindi and Sanskrit, Kunbah is widely used in Urdu, a language that embraces words from Arabic, Persian, and beyond — symbolising unity in diversity.
